This is a rare live bootleg of a song that eventually made it onto From the Storm to the Sun. A simmering blues groove, this breaks the tune down to its most sparse elements, and adds a nice acoustic guitar solo from Ryan. Also, listen for Lucas feeling the song about midway through. This was us at our most intimate; feeding off of each other onstage.

This is a tune that was a staple of our early live shows and nearly made it onto both of our albums. A jazz-r&b hybrid full of energy that comes off a little better in a live performance than recorded in a studio, this performance of “Boojie” features some great playing by Cory, especially in the middle breakdown section.

From a performance at The Evening Muse (not sure of the year, sorry!), one of the BEST venues for indie musicians on the East Coast.

Okay, that was a punny title, but here’s the deal: we’ve launched a tumblelog, which you can access here. It’s entitled Intersticial Flow, and will be the home of all things Soulganic that resides somewhere between our musical expression and cultural observations. So, from now until the release of our new album Didactic Interstice (and beyond!), our tumblog will be a neat place to visit for tidbits not available anywhere else in the universe!

Por ejemplo, over the next few months, we’ll be posting rare demos, outtakes, live bootlegs and photos from the vault to feed your hunger for the Ganic until the new album is ready. Once the album drops, Intersticial Flow will be the place to go for album notes, lyrics and even more goodies.

So, drop on by, check it out, and (if you have a tumblr too) follow us.

Greetings & Salutations, fair listeners! We know we’ve been ultra quiet lately on the blogosphere, but things are still movin & groovin in Ganic-land. Here’s what’s up.

As we continue to work on our next endeavor, we’ve been listening to some really sweet tunes that we think you’ll dig, too:

• “What Were You Hoping For?” – Van Hunt
• “Nine Types of Light” – TV On The Radio
• “The King of Limbs” – Radiohead

Also, regarding our new album Didiactic Interstice:

• We’ve decided to not talk much about this project until it’s done. So, aside from brief updates about how close we are to completion, we’ll try our best to refrain from giving any details, hints, descriptions or spoilers, with the goal of letting your impression as a listener shape your view of the work, not our biased persuasions.

• We’ll soon let you know how you can help us complete the project whilst supporting a worthy cause

And, news on our growing web presence:

• We’ve also got a profile up on Afro-Punk, a new site for the other side of the black experience. Definitely worth checking out the talented folks on there from various creative disciplines.

Thanks, as always, for your support, and for spreading the word about what we do.

Peace & Luv

A bunch of folks have asked, in one way or another, “What does your new stuff sound like?” Well, rather than try to objectively describe something we’re subjectively connected to, we thought we’d share some of the visual inspiration we’ve tapped into that has helped us feel out our new compositions. Enjoy!

Pre-production for Didactic Interstice has been a blast! No pressure, free-flowing ideas and just all around groovy goodness. It feels good to play together again after some time off, it feels even better to know our musical bond has grown through time and space.

As we begin in earnest to approach the actual recording process, we’re a bit nervous, as we suppose we should be. After all, crafting the expression of things so intimate for public consumption always brings with it an amount of trepidation. We’ll always wonder, insecurely, if our music will be liked. We’ll always retrospectively criticize even our best efforts. For now, though, we’re determined to be in the moment, since this moment’s expression is what the Music will use to come to life.

What’s happening, peeps!

We know things have been quiet on our end, and we apologize, but don’t think we’ve forgotten about you. In fact, we’ve been keeping things busy with you in mind:

• Work continues on our new album, entitled Didactic Interstice. The concept behind this one is to return to our roots, and create something sparse, energetic, intimate and ultra-funky. We know you’re going to love it! What we’ve been doing is periodically getting together, jamming, seeing what feels right, and using those moments as the jump-off points for our compositions. In fact, it’s at one of those sessions that our good friends Ryan & Keri Walton dropped by and took some pics & some vids of the action. You can see round one of the session photos on the Photos page of our website. Videos will come soon, as will more pics.

• We’ve re-opened our merchandise site, located here. Right now, we have one style of t-shirt for sale, with plans for more versions as the release date for the album approaches. If you’ve connected with us on facebook already, then you know about all of the deals we’ve had already. We’ll continue to promote official Soulganic merch discounts, so keep checking back to make sure you’re rocking the sweetest threads.

• Speaking of the social network, if you haven’t liked us on facebook yet, please make sure to visit our page and do so AND feel free to share the love to all of your friends! Despite the accessibility and immediacy of technology, it’s still the human connection that drives us all. Also, you can find us on twitter, youtube, last.fm and soundcloud.

We’ll check back with you soon. In the meantime, remember to support indie music!

Peace & Luv!
